Father’s Day Flash Mob
On June 11th, 2011 at 1:15pm in Denver, Colorado, more than a hundred of us dads holding our babies (no women over 2’ tall allowed) very enthusiastically celebrated our own fatherhood and demonstrated our growing sense of brotherhood, or Ji’Kinam*.
We celebrated that America’s fathers are on the job, and we are delivering for our families, thriving on our children’s love, and feeding our hearts and souls as men. We are re-focusing this Father’s Day season on the best of us, the millions of dads stepping up no matter what, and bringing some needed respect to fatherhood.
We want to declare its time for the trashing of fathers to stop, especially of our own fathers and grandfathers, who would've relished opportunities to be a big part of their children’s lives as much as we do. We also want to show our younger brothers that failure as a father is no longer an option for a man.
*Ji’Kinam: Our sense of brotherhood from our common quest to take care for our kids. It means mutual learning and motivation for our challenging job as dad. We’re on a mission to make the world a better place for all of our kids.
